New Year New HVAC Habits

2020 seemed like it would never end. The constant struggle of a pandemic hanging around all of us was something difficult that we all had to deal with. Looking ahead to 2021 on how we can build off of the new habits we have created to not only survive, but thrive in 2020 is a key to continue the success that we started to make. Your HVAC system is most likely something that didn’t concern you when dealing with the pandemic and it could be a key to making your business or home safe in 2021 and beyond. Creating new habits to keep a clean HVAC system year round is always something that we encourage so that you won’t have to worry about an emergency happening, and when one does you can always trust the Thompson team. Today we are going to discuss what habits you can create in order to always have a safe and smooth HVAC system in your home or business.

Consistency is key

Staying consistent about how your HVAC system is taken care of is the best way to maintain it. Only having your system worked on, cleaned, or even checked after an emergency can cost you more money and more problems in the long run. We always recommend that it should be checked out about every 6 months or right before the more extreme seasons come. That is, once before the winter and once before the summer. This will make sure your heating and cooling systems will be ready to take on the freezing temperatures as well as the heat and humidity.

Cleaning your ducts is always one way to make sure you and your family are breathing clean air. We recommend this to be at least checked when an appointment is made but the actual cleaning should be done anywhere from 2-5 years depending on how your ducts look.

Take Safety Measures

We are always adamant about changing your HVAC filter for more than just the sake of doing it. This will prevent you from having complications getting clean air throughout your home or business. We recommend changing it every 90 days or as needed to ensure that your air is always high quality and contaminant free. Another way we recommend getting clean air throughout your home is installing an air purifier like the Reme HALO LED air purifier. This is one product we offer that we stand by to kill most contaminants in your home. This uses UV light technology to kill all mold, bacteria, viruses, and allergens that are traveling through your system. You want to be breathing clean air all of the time so that these contaminants don’t affect you in the place where you are getting things done or your own home.
